3 days in Palma De Mallorca: An Epic 3 day itinerary (+ Map)
Are you planning a trip to Mallorca and want to know the best way to spend 3 days in Palma de Mallorca?
We recently visited Palma de Mallorca and can honestly say it is one of the most underrated city breaks in Europe. It has great shopping, food & drink, architecture and it was really clean as well. It is also one of the few major cities in Europe that has a beach meaning you get the best of city and beach life, with the option to take boat tours.
The great thing about Palma de Mallorca is that it can also easily be a trip in itself or is easily reached from other parts of Mallorca if you are planning a road trip. One thing to note as well is that Palma de Mallorca is a great city to visit if you have young children. One of the main attractions of Palma de Mallorca for us was how walkable the city was with a young child. Almost every cafe/restaurant we visited had changing facilities, the city is not very hilly and there are lots of playgrounds etc. as well.
This 3 day Palma de Mallorca itinerary, will take you through everything you need to spend the perfect break in Palma de Mallorca, including hotel, restaurant and hotel recommendations around the city.

Is 3 days in Palma de mallorca enough time?
Ideally, we would suggests spending at least 2-3 days in the city to allow you sufficient time to enjoy everything Palma has to offer. With that approach, you could spend one day exploring the city centre, one at the beach area/ on a cruise like this one to get the best of everything on during your stay.
The great thing about Palma de Mallorca is that it is a good option for a standalone city break or else you can spend a day in Palma as part of a wider tour of Mallorca.

How to get from Palma de mallorca Airport to the city centre
Public Transport
Palma de Mallorca city centre is very accessible from the airport, as it is only 7km away. You can get a taxi just outside arrivals at a reasonable price of around €20 at the time of writing.
Alternatively, you can use public transport and get the bus from just outside the arrivals hall for around €5 each way and free for children under 5. The two main bus companies are EMT and TIB, you can download their apps to get an up to date bus timetable for when you arrive. Buses in Palma de Mallorca allow you to make contactless payments on board as well so they are very convenient.
Car Rental
You can also rent a car in Palma to get around. We would recommend taking this option if you plan to explore Mallorca more broadly but it isn’t a necessity otherwise.
If you would like to rent a car, we would recommend using Discover Cars to get the best rate for your rental.

3 dayS IN Palma de Mallorca Itinerary
Day One
Morning – Coffee, Breakfast & Exploring
One of the first things Katie and I do when we visit a new city, is to find the best places for a coffee. One of our favourite things to do in any city is to get lost around the streets with a coffee in hand.
Palma de Mallorca has lots of great places for coffee but the one we liked the most was Nano Coffee Lab, which does a great iced matcha as well. We also loved Surry Hills, which is ranked in the top 100 coffee shops in the world. One other place we would suggest is Mistral but if you drink as much coffee as we do you could end up at all 3!

If you want to grab some breakfast, we would also recommend Lilli’s for a brunch style cafe, with great options like acai bowls, avocado toasts and granola. They also have some outdoor seating so it’s a really nice place to sit out and watch the city come to life in the morning.

In this area you will also find lots of high street shops like Zara, H&M etc. along Passeig del Born, which is almost like Mallorca’s equivalent to Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Along this street you will often find lots of street artists performing music and if you walk to the end of the street you will find a beautiful fountain, as well as great views of Seu Cathedral from the back.

Afternoon – Lunch & Palma Cathedral
Not far from here you can grab some lunch before making your way down to the Cathedral.
We would recommend exploring the Cathedral from every angle, as well as going inside, as each side of the buildings provides a completely different perspective. If you plan to go inside we would recommend purchasing skip the line tickets here to save time and make the most of your day in Palma de Mallorca. Outside the main entrance you will also find horse drawn carts that you can take a ride on around the Cathedral area.
After seeing the Cathedral up close, we would suggest making your way down to Parc de la Mar to find a great location for snapping photos with the cathedral behind. This is also a lovely area to sit outside along the water for a relaxing place to have a drink with this iconic backdrop in full view. If you are spending the day in Palma de Mallorca with young children like we were, there is also a large playground for kinds just a few minutes this spot. Search ‘parc infantil’ in google maps to take you straight to it.

Evening – Tapas & Sangria
Palma de Mallorca is renowned for having great food and in particular tapas. A great way to familiarise yourself with the city centre and try out a wide range of their tapas offerings is to take this tapas tour. The great thing we found about this tour was that it is self guided, meaning you can take it entirely at your own pace.
The tour takes in 5 different tapas bars around the city and includes a selection of tapas at each location as well as local drink offerings including sangria and wine. We always love to try out local cuisine when we visit a new place and find tours like this one a great way to naturally enjoy an evening in the same manner as the locals.
The other great thing about this particular tour is that it can be started in the afternoon, meaning it could easily cover your lunch, dinner and drinks for the day.

Day 2
Morning – Bellver Castle
Start your second day in Palma with breakfast at Boski – a dog friendly cafe that does great specialty coffee and healthy brunch options.
From there, you can take a 20 minute walk to Bellver Castle, one of the best viewpoints in Palma from the hills above the city. Once you are at the top, you will be able to enjoy incredible views of the Bay of Palma and the Tramuntana mountains. Tickets to enter the castle are €4 but you can visit for free on Sundays.
If you are visiting Palma de Mallorca with kids, the castle grounds also have a great playground which makes it a family friendly option as well.

Afternoon – Catamaran Cruise from the port
As it is a port city, one great alternative you have for a day in Palma de Mallorca, is to head off on a day cruise at sea. Day 2 is all about soaking up the sun at the beach and at sea. Start your day off with breakfast and coffee at Santal before making your way down to the port for a midday cruise.
The cruise includes snacks throughout the day, an open bar and some of the best views of the bay of Palma. You also get the opportunity to go snorkelling
This cruise also has the option of being taken at sunset which is also a great option to capture photos during golden hour. This option is also better for anyone who would like to enjoy the tour in slightly cooler temperatures as the earlier option can be during peak temperatures.
Evening – Paella & Bar Abaco
To cap off your second day in Palma de Mallorca, it’s time to go for some dinner and drinks. One of the main specialities of Mallorca is Paella, a one pan dish typically made with rice and seafood but there are often meat variations available as well. For dinner, we would suggest trying out La Rosa for Mediterranean style food or else Rikito for Italian or finally, Koa for tapas & cocktails.
Next up is one one of the coolest bars we have found anywhere in Mallorca – Bar Abaco. This is a great place to close out a day in Palma de Mallorca, the drinks are a little bit expensive to be honest but as you are only in Palma de Mallorca for 3 days, it is definitely worth visiting for one drink to enjoy the surroundings. The bar is set in La Llonja, an area known for its bars and restaurants, so if Abaco isn’t your vibe, there are lots of great choices within walking distance nearby.
DAY 3 – DAY TRIP TO SOLLER & VALLDEMOSSA
On your final day in Palma de Mallorca, we would highly recommend taking a guided tour to Soller/Port de Soller and Valldemossa. We took this tour the last time we were in Mallorca and it was a great way to see some of the mountainous parts of the islands, as well as the beautiful Port de Soller.
The only disadvantage with the particular tour we took is that it didn’t stop in the town of Deia, which was one of our main points of interest in Mallorca. If you would like to do a tour which does include Deia, we would recommend this one, which includes lunch and your train to Soller.
Valldemossa
This day trip has a number of pick up points available and from there you will travel directly to the first stop, Valldemossa. Valldemossa is a mountain side town with charming cobblestone streets lining the area. There are lots of great shops in Valldemossa and it is a great place to sit outside with a coffee to relax. If you would like to visit a great cafe, grab a window seat in Barbaflorida cafe and enjoy the surrounding views of the town, with those beautiful mountains in the background.
After that, take a walk to Mirador Valldemossa, an observation deck with perfect views of the surrounding Tramuntana mountains.

Soller & Port de Soller
After visiting Valldemossa, your next stop will be Soller, famous for its vintage tram that runs all the way to Palma. The tram is the main attraction here and can often sell out well in advance. Thankfully, this tour includes a tram ride from Soller to Port de Soller, which will be your final stop on the day.
Port de Soller is a picturesque seaside port that is very similar in style to the French Riviera. Unfortunately, you don’t get to stay here for very long on the day trip. If you have the time, we would definitely recommend booking a hotel in Port de Soller and spending a night here to really enjoy it.
Evening – Flamenco Show
After returning from Port de Soller, the best way to end your 3 days in Palma de Mallorca is another Spanish tradition – a Flamenco Show. This is a great way to finish your trip to Palma with local music, tapas and a welcome drink on arrival.
And there you have a great way to spend 3 days in Palma de Mallorca, combining local culture, history, architecture and plenty of sunshine to give you a complete experience for this beautiful city.
