Is a day in Palma enough time?
While a day in Palma won’t be enough time to see everything, it is a very walkable city, meaning you will be able to get a great feel for Palma in one day.
Ideally, we would suggests spending at least 2-3 days in the city to allow you sufficient time to enjoy the city. With that approach, you could spend one day exploring the city centre, one at the beach area and one on a cruise like this one to get the best of everything on during your stay.
If you are able to spend more than a day in Palma, we would highly recommend taking this vintage tram ride from Palma to Soller. We would also suggest adding a stay at a hotel in Port de Soller to your trip to get the best combination of relaxed beach and city life your stay.

A day in Palma: The perfect one day itinerary
Morning – Coffee, Breakfast & Exploring
One of the first things Katie and I do when we visit a new city, is to find the best places for a coffee. One of our favourite things to do in any city is to get lost around the streets with a coffee in hand.
Palma has lots of great places for coffee but the one we liked the most was Nano Coffee lab, which does a great iced matcha as well. We also loved Surry Hills, which is ranked in the top 100 coffee shops in the world. One other place we would suggest is Mistral but if you drink as much coffee as we do you could end up at all 3!

If you want to grab some breakfast, we would also recommend Lilli’s for a brunch style cafe, with great options like acai bowls, avocado toasts and granola. They also have some outdoor seating so it’s a really nice place to sit out and watch the city come to life in the morning.

In this area you will also find lots of high street shops like Zara, H&M etc. along Passeig del Born, which is almost like Mallorca’s equivalent to Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Along this street you will often find lots of street artists performing music and if you walk to the end of the street you will find a beautiful fountain, as well as great views of Seu Cathedral from the back.

Afternoon – Lunch & Palma Cathedral
Not far from here you can grab some lunch before making your way down to the Cathedral.
We would recommend exploring the Cathedral from every angle, as well as going inside, as each side of the buildings provides a completely different perspective. If you plan to go inside we would recommend purchasing skip the line tickets here to save time and make the most of your day in Palma. Outside the main entrance you will also find horse drawn carts that you can take a ride on around the Cathedral area.
After seeing the Cathedral up close, we would suggest making your way down to Parc de la Mar to find a great location for snapping photos with the cathedral behind. This is also a lovely area to sit outside along the water for a relaxing place to have a drink with this iconic backdrop in full view. If you are spending the day in Palma with young children like we were, there is also a large playground for kinds just a few minutes this spot. Search ‘parc infantil’ in google maps to take you straight to it.

Evening – Dinner & Drinks
To cap off your day in Palma, it’s time to go for some dinner and drinks. One of the main specialities of Mallorca is Paella, a one pan dish typically made with rice and seafood but there are often meat variations available as well. For dinner, we would suggest trying out La Rosa for Mediterranean style food or else Rikito for Italian or finally, Koa for tapas & cocktails.
Next up is one one of the coolest bars we have found anywhere in Mallorca. This is a great place to close out a day in Palma, the drinks are a little bit expensive to be honest but as you are only in Palma for one day, it is definitely worth visiting for one drink to enjoy the surroundings. The bar is set in La Llonja, an area known for its bars and restaurants, so if Abaco isn’t your vibe, there are lots of great choices within walking distance nearby.

Alternative option for a day in Palma
As it is a port city, one great alternative you have for a day in Palma, is to head off on a day cruise at sea. If this sounds more like you, we would highly recommend this 5 hour Catamaran cruise which includes food, drinks and snorkelling in the stunning turquoise waters that surround the city. As the cruise doesn’t take up the whole day, it still leaves plenty of time to explore the main sights in Palma when you return to the port a well.
And that is everything you need to spend the perfect day in Palma. One thing to note as well is that Palma is a great city to visit if you have young children. One of the main attractions of Palma for us was how walkable the city was with a young child. Almost every cafe/restaurant we visited had changing facilities, the city is not very hilly and there are lots of playgrounds etc. as well.
