How to get around in Paris
Public Transport
If you are planning to spend at least one week in the city the Paris City Pass – “Navigo Decouverte” allows you to travel throughout zones 1-5 using public transport for around €30 per week. This can be purchased at the majority of metro or train stations.
You can also get a Navigo day pass covering zones 1-3 for €11.60 per day.
Alternatively, the Paris Visite package allows access to all transport networks: metro, tram, bus, RER and train (SNCF Transilien). This package, valid for 1, 2, 3 or 5 consecutive days, allows unlimited travel in Paris (zones 1 to 3) or Paris and the Île-de-France region (all zones, with access to airports including Orlyval, Disneyland Paris and Château de Versailles). The visite pass also provides discounted prices for numerous attractions around the city.
| Duration | Adult | Child (4-11) |

Taxi
The main apps used for taxi services around the city are Bolt or FreeNow – it is beneficial to download each of these apps if you need to grab a taxi but we would suggest using public transport wherever possible.
Hop On/Hop Off Tour
If it is your first time visiting the city, one of the best ways to get a feel for the city and to see all of the major sites is to take the hop/hop off bus tours. This allows you the flexibility to pick and choose where and when you want to go somewhere, without having to worry about how to get there. You can continue to use our guide to plan out your time and use the bus to move between each of the recommended locations.

How many days do you need in Paris?
Ideally, you should spend 4 days in Paris to allow sufficient time to explore the sites and potentially take a day trip. You will need a minimum of 2 days in Paris to see the major sites but will have to prioritize some places over others within that time.
The key things to maximising your time in Paris is to have a clear plan. Paris is a very big city and it is spread out, the major sights are not very close together so you need to focus on one area at a time.
If you do have 3-4 days in Paris and would like to take a day trip, we would highly recommend this Palace of Versailles Tour which will take you into the world of French royalty. The tour includes skip the line access and a guided tour of this incredible palace, really worth adding to a longer Paris itinerary.
Alternatively, we would also suggest taking a trip to Disneyland Paris if you have time available, particularly if you are visiting Paris with kids..

Hotels in Paris near the Eiffel Tower
This guide will focus on hotels in Paris with Eiffel Tower views but if you simply want advice on where to stay in Paris, we have put together a complete guide to some of the key neighbourhoods for you to check out as well.
The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement, Palais Bourbon. If you want perfect views of the Eiffel Tower from your hotel, you don’t necessarily need to stay in this arrondissement as many of the best Eiffel Tower views from hotels are from a bit further away.
Luxury hotels in Paris near the Eiffel Tower
The Shangri-La Paris €€€€€
First up we have the extremely luxurious and extremely expensive Shangri-La hotel.
Rooms here comfortably cost an eye watering €1000 per night so this really is one of those one off occasions type of hotel (unless you are comfortable spending that kind of money on hotel stays, in which case, we should be friends).
Key features of this hotel
Naturally, with this price tag, the Shangri-La screams exclusivity and luxury, as well as unparalleled views of the Eiffel tower. The hotel was the former residence of Prince Bonaparte, before being tastefully restored to become this 100 room hotel.
The hotel includes an indoor swimming pool, spa, fitness suite and 2 restaurants, as well as a cocktail bar. The general consensus with the Shangri-La is that the view will take your breath away but so too will the price of accessing it.

Mid Range hotels near the Eiffel Tower
Le Parisis – Paris Tour Eiffel
Our first pick for a mid range hotel near the Eiffel Tower is Le Parisis, a 4* hotel about a 15 minute walk away from the landmark. You can get a room here for around €240 a night at different times during the year.
While that is expensive in relative terms, a mid range hotel in Paris will typically set you back €200+ per night so this is a great option for one with views of the Eiffel Tower.
Key features of this hotel
This hotel has fitness facilities on site and their breakfast is highly regarded by guests. It is also just a couple of minutes walk to a Metro station which is key in Paris, so you can get to all the city attractions without any hassle.
Make sure to request a room on one of the upper floors with Eiffel Tower views to make the most of your stay.

Le Parisis – Paris Tour Eiffel

Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel
Next up in the mid range bracket we have the Pullman Paris. This 4* hotel is also located in the 15th arrondissement, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and the view here is almost as good as any hotel in Paris.
Rooms here will typically cost upwards of €300 per night but in our view, if Le Parisis is available for less on the same night, we can’t see the justification for this hotel costing more. The hotel is really nice but certainly inflated by that view.
Key features of this hotel
Again this hotel comes with a gym and an on site restaurant but the price of breakfast is again quite inflated at €35 per person.
The big thing with this hotel is that even if you choose not to stay here, you can make a reservation at their rooftop bar, 10eme ciel, which will allow you to access those incredible views. We have found it difficult to get a reservation there in the past so make sure to book early to avoid missing out.

Eiffel Trocadéro
This is probably the most reasonably priced of the mod range options near the Eiffel Tower, with rooms coming in at €200+, which matches similar hotels in other parts of the city.
Eiffel Trocadero is well positioned and only a 7 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, as well as being a well located to easily access the Arc de Triomphe from Trocadero Metro station along the famous line 6 metro route.
Just around the corner you could also visit Cafe Lucy at Place du Trocadero which has perfect Eiffel Tower views and enjoy a picnic at Champ des Mars underneath the iconic tower.

Hôtel La Comtesse
Our final mid range selection is the 4* Hôtel La Comtesse. This hotel is set in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, a 5 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. This one is perfect for anyone who prefers a more boutique style of hotel.
The hotel has a great breakfast/brunch offering and again is right beside a metro station, which makes life so much easier in Paris.
You can get a room here for around €250 at certain times off peak during the year but expect that to double during the peak Summer months.

Budget Friendly –
Best Western Au Trocadéro
We use the term budget friendly’ here with a pinch of salt as it is purely in the context of what you can expect to pay for a hotel in Paris with Eiffel Tower views.
In any other context, we would still consider this to be quite expensive. The best option we found in that ‘budget friendly category is the Best Western Au Trocadéro.
This hotel is set in the 16th arrondissement and crucially again, it has easy access to a metro station for getting around (you’re probably starting to sense a theme by now).
You can get a room here for €170 per night at certain points in the year, making it the cheapest option of those listed but that doesn’t take away from its quality. Being within walking distance of both the Eiffel Tower and Arc de triomphe is the major selling point of this hotel.
Again, with all of the hotels we would suggest with Eiffel Tower views, you are paying a premium for the view. That isn’t to say it isn’t worth it but do bear it in mind when considering the cost as they won’t always provide the greatest bang for your buck.

Best activities in Paris with Eiffel Tower views
River Seine Cruise
There are three activities we would recommend for Eiffel tower views – the one we would most recommend is to take a River Seine Cruise after sunset. There are a numerous ways you can do this depending on your budget but if you want the full Parisian experience, we would recommend taking the cruise with 3 course dinner & champagne, particularly for those special occasions.
Alternatively, you can also do a standalone cruise for around €20 which will still allow you to have uninterrupted views of the tower to capture those memories of your trip to Paris.
Eiffel Tower Summit Access
The next option is to take the lift/elevator up the Eiffel Tower to get summit access. While we don’t necessarily think this provides the best perspective of the tower itself, it is still worth adding to your itinerary as a bucket list type item, especially for first time visitors to Paris.
Arc de Triomphe Rooftop
Finally, you could take a trip up to the rooftop of the Arc de Triomphe. This is one we would definitely recommend doing in the evening time. The view of the Eiffel Tower from there is perfect and the Arc itself is beautiful after sunset, it’s a win-win.

DON’T FORGET
Book Your River Seine Cruise
Guided tours along the river Seine tend to sell out quite quickly due to its popularity. We would recommend purchasing your tickets in advance to avoid any issues on the day.
Best places to see the Eiffel Tower
Alternatively, if all you really have your heart set on is to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower without the expensive price tag of a hotel near the Eiffel Tower that goes with it, here are our favourite viewpoints:
- L’Howea
- Rue L’Universite
- Avenue Camoens
- Pont d’Lena
- Pont d’Alma
- Galeries Lafayette Hausmann Rooftop
- Arc de Triomphe rooftop
- Avenue Buenos Ayres
- Place du Trocadero
- No. 06 Metro

This will depend entirely on the time of year you visit but Paris tends to get all 4 seasons so you can pack accordingly, knowing that it does get particularly cold during the winter with a much higher percentage of rainfall
